100 years of fashion in 100 seconds

Here's a video to celebrate the grand opening of the Westfield Stratford City shopping center in East London:

The video showcases a couple dancing and as the video progresses their costumes change as well as the style of dance to reflect fashion styling of the time period.  We used to dress so classy back in the day...

The smallest billboard around

Here is a billboard to promote the UK documentary show Seven Dwarves:

Tiny billboards were placed around London to showcase the television program that shadows seven tiny people during the production of Snow White.   ...Really?

These mini-billboards were scaled to real-sized hoardings, as the Brits would say, and came with lighting that actually worked.

Who says there isn't chivalry in beer ads

Here is a commercial from London for Stella Artois:

A gentleman seated at a cafe sees a stunning woman and goes after her.  Being the fine gentleman he is, he places his coat over a puddle as she walks across the street.  Well, a storm must have recently passed through since there are many puddles on the street.  He begins to strip off his other garments so she can have something to step on over these other puddles.  As she hops over other puddles, he continues to tear off his clothes for her, and finally he asks, "Can't we just talk?"  "But we are in a commercial," she quips.  It's a cute, risky response, but works for this commercial and the look and feel is very nice.

LivingSocial taxi

Here is a great stunt in London for LivingSocial:

Unsuspecting passengers would board the LivingSocial taxi and discover they had the choice of either continuing to their destination or a LivingSocial Experience.  The daring ones who didn't have a train to catch or were in a rush took a roll of the dice for some interesting excursions including a pole dancing fitness class and a fish pedicure.

The happiest box of all

Here's a commercial from the UK for McDonald's:

Larger-than-life McDonald's happy meal boxes were set up in several locations.  From shooting jets of water to mechanical robo-happy meals, each replica of the McDonald's kid's meal had a fun little surprise.

Papercraft popup posters

To promote the indie London band Dry the River's new album, they created these outdoor papercraft posters:

Using Google Sketch, they mapped out 3D versions of the album cover.   The papercraft horses took 35 hours to make, and here is the making of video, which showcases the time-lapse construction, scored by Dry the River's single "No Rest."

Here is Dry the River's actual video for "No Rest."  If anyone knows, what exactly is going on this video, can you let me know.  Is this some kind of band hazing ceremony?

Allow Google Voice to pronouce that for you

The OOH campaign for the Google Voice mobile search app in the UK includes billboards with pronunciations of London Underground tube stops as well as things people search for on their mobile while out and about:

Taxi Numbers (tak-see num-buhz)

Travel Updates (trah-vuhl up-deyts)

Ticket Reservations (ti-kit reh-zer-vey-shunz)

 Latest Scores (ley-tist skohrz)

Restaurant reviews (res-tront ree-vyooz)

 FTSE 100 (foot-see wun-hun-dred)

 Exchange Rates (eks-cheynj reyts)

Cinema Times (si-neh-mar tymz)

Some Google adverts along the Tube included:

Leicester Square (les-tuh skwair)

Marylebone (mar-lee-boan)

Oxford Circus (oks-fuhd sur-khus)

Piccadilly Circus (pih-ka di-lee sur-khus)

 Covent Garden (koh-vunt gar-duhn)

The billboards get your attention because of its minimalistic design and the fact it's just a bunch of gobbledygook thrown on a wall.  The tag "say it to get it," instructs the viewer to say it out loud, and it does take a few seconds to figure out the ad.  But it doesn't take too long where the viewer starts to lose interest.  Figuring out what the ad says is an interactive game in a sense.

okay okay ... the Royal Wedding already

The announcement of Prince William and Kate Middleton marriage was a big so-what.  But I will say, she will make a very beautiful queen.  So here are a few adverts that are spotlighting the wedding.

This video from T-Mobile is still a pretty good watch, where the royal-look-alikes are pretty spot-on.

This one is a "commemorative plate" for the Royal celebration from London for the brewery John Smith.

Interactive in the UK

So here's an interactive advert from the London:

I guess Lynx is like AXE body spray across the pond.  I like this.  Interactive is always fun, but it seems like they were playing the same Angel video loop over and over again.  We do get to see the-man-on-the-Mac sitting in the sidelines initiating the video as commuters stand on the mat.  What would have made it truly brilliant is if they had "the Lynx Angel" in a secret room nearby set up with a telly so she could see what the crowd was doing and then give unique reactions to all those cheeky blokes trying to feel her up.
